KENYA – Kenya’s wines and spirits distributor, Mohan’s Oysterbay Drinks Ltd has secured an exclusive deal with Bulgarian spirits producer VP Brands International to import and distribute the popular Flirt Vodka in the country.
A Business Daily report indicates the partnership will allow the dealer distribute the brands both in Kenya and East Africa with the length of the exclusive contract not known.
Mohan’s will only distribute Flirt Vodka, taking over from First Drinks Kenya Ltd who previously had the agreement to distribute the brand.
While Flirt Vodka is sold in more than 88 markets globally, Mohan’s said it was eying the vodka’s brand awareness in Kenya with planned promotional activities in 12 major towns around the country.
The distributor also imports and distributes leading international brands such as Grants Scotch Whiskey, Glenfiddich, Three Barrels Brandy, and Tullamore, Hendricks Gin and Mac Mohan Whiskey.
The company also imports and distributes the Red Bull Energy drink.
VP Brands international portfolio includes Black Ram whisky, 6th Sense Gin, Rakia and is seeking to use its presence in Kenya as a launching pad for further penetration into the African market, particularly South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania.
“Kenya is ideally placed. We want to establish Kenya as our core market in Africa and use the best practices and lessons as a launch pad to other countries within Africa,” said VP Brands International Global Trade Marketing Manager, Stoyan Praskov.
In June, the Tanzania based firm Mohan’s entered into a partnership with South African wine and spirits giant KWV distribute KWV products across the region.
Its products that include the KWV Wines; Roodeberg, Laborie and Pearly Bay.
The partnership was described as a strategic move to capitalize on KWV’s heritage and Mohan’s Oysterbay Drinks Ltd’s market understanding to grow market share in the region.
