Ghana’s chamber of commerce backs Unilever Ghana growth strategy

GHANA – The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GNCCI) has pledged its support to the fast moving consumer goods manufacturer, Unilever Ghana, towards helping the firm boost efficiencies in its operations.

According to Nana Appiagyei Dankawoso I, president GNCCI, the move is aimed at boosting Unilever Ghana’s revenue generation by addressing major operational challenges experienced by the firm.

Speaking during a factory visit to the plant, Nana Dankawoso added that this will also promote the company’s brands and best practices in the globally competitive business spaces, reports GhanaWeb.

According to Nana Dankawoso this was part of the chamber’s legislative mandate to promote and protect commercial and industrial interests.

He noted that over the years, GNCCI has provided myriads of opportunities for business linkages and networks, partnerships and capacity building contributing to Uniliver’s sustenance and success for its over 100 years presence in Ghana.

He gave the assurance that the Chamber would continue to engage governments and stakeholders through evidence-based advocacy for continuous improvements in the business environment.

“Governments would come and go but the private sector would continue to serve as agents for growth so let’s try to patronise their products,” he said, urging companies to capitalise on the chamber’s activities in marketing their products.

Mr Nazaire Djako, the Acting Managing Director of Unilever Ghana Limited, said the company was confident of the quality of its products and as its stronghold amidst the competitive business environment in the country.

He also reiterated the company’s commitment in locally sourcing raw materials for their production as a means of supporting the country’s economy.

Mr Nazaire also urged companies to improve on their productivity and effectiveness to reduce the rate of imports and increase exports to grow the economy.

Meanwhile, it London based parent company, Unilever Plc, has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire  San Francisco based wellness supplement brand Olly Nutrition for an undisclosed sum.

“Olly is a strong, innovative brand in the fast-growing health and wellbeing space, and nicely complements our businesses in Beauty & Personal Care and Foods & refreshment.

Olly’s focus on making nutrition delightfully easy aligns closely with Unilever values and our continued commitment to improving people’s wellbeing,” said Amanda Sourry, President of Unilever North America.
