MEXICO – Tate & Lyle has expanded its food application laboratory and customer-facing facilities in Mexico as the market in Latin America has seen growing demand for healthier food options.
The facility has been equipped with additional food application labs, ultra-high processing (UHT) equipment for sterilisation, physico-chemical analysis technology and access to Tate & Lyle advisors.
The company is conforming to changing needs, trends and insights by customers thus help manufacturers find the best ingredient solutions for their favorite beverages, dairy, soups and confectionery.
The expanded facility, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment offers manufacturers new formulations and ingredients that address changing consumer tastes and preferences.
In addition, Tate& Lyle has expanded its product portfolio in North America, with the introduction of a new sweetener called Dolcia Prima Allulose.
The sweetener is a low-calorie sweetener, made of 70% sucrose, according to the company.
All these developments were driven by increasing consumer demand for healthier food and drink ranking from lowering calories to reduced sugar and fat content.
“Last year, product launches with a health and wellness claim increased by 32%.
Working together with our customers, we are developing thousands of great tasting ‘better for you’ products each year for consumers in Mexico and across Latin America,” said Oswaldo Nardinelli, senior vice-president and general manager, Speciality Food Ingredients, Latin America at Tate & Lyle.
In Latin America and Mexico, there is a growing need for more food and beverage options that can support healthier diets and lifestyles.
“Although the need and demand for healthier options is clear, we know that consumers will not compromise on taste and it’s this challenge – making healthy food tastier and tasty food healthier – that our food scientists and application experts are helping food businesses overcome,” said Renata Cassar, senior research scientist, Latin America at Tate & Lyle.
Tate & Lyle solutions are vital in sugar and calorie reduction, digestive health and enrichment and adding texture.
