Firmenich launches natural and clean label platform in commitment to traceability

SWITZERLAND – Firmenich has launched its Natural and Clean Label platform formed by a combination of its mastery of taste and naturals, with its world-class science and consumer understanding.

The launch demonstrates the unique breadth of its clean label and natural capabilities to create ‘great tasting, natural and traceable food and beverage experiences’.

Firmenich said it is committed to full traceability, Firmenich is going far beyond today’s labelling requirements to provide its customers and their consumers with information they can understand and trust.

Even as traceability evolve at major flavor houses, Firmenich is prioritizing clean label by embracing technology and working with all its partners to shape the most transparent experience.

The company uses a range of techniques from soft, solvent-free and CO2 extractions, all the way to kitchen techniques leveraging culinary arts, as well as innovative bio-based approaches like fermentation to offer the best of nature sustainably.

It targets to go far beyond the label to offer consumers the authenticity, familiarity and transparency they expect by providing end-to-end traceability from the source of the ingredients and country of origin, all the way to the production process.

Firmenich invests 10% of its turnover in R&D, strengthening its position as a world-class research and creativity, as well as its thought leadership in sustainability and exceptional understanding of consumer trends.

The company is expanding its scope into natural flavors as they are already operating with natural extracts and seafood powders.

The clean label is an evolution for its portfolio especially after completed the acquisition of US-based Natural Flavors, Inc., a manufacturer of high-quality organic certified natural flavors in February 2018.

The integration of this company under the Firmenich name will offer additional organic capabilities.

This comes at the wake of integration in the flavors industry including acquisition of Diana by Symrise, proposed takeover of Naturex by Givaudan and IFF’s move for Frutarom.
