ITALY – Swiss milk processor, Emmi has acquired Pasticceria Quadrifoglio srl, an Italian producer of pastry, cakes, desserts, and other dry bakery products for the foodservice customers.
According to Emmi, Italian dessert specialities are an important strategic area for its growth in the European market.
It also expands and strengthens the company’s existing dessert portfolio to better serve the food service segment that comprises of catering customers.
In Italy, Emmi owns three other production locations in Gattico, Pero and Lasnigo and Pasticceria Quadrifoglio srl becomes the fourth player to join Emmi’s Dessert Italia network.
The integration of Pasticceria Quadrifoglio srl, located with two production sites near Modena, will further expand Emmi’s production and distribution capabilities.
Founded in 1978, Pasticceria Quadrifoglio is well established in its home market of Italy, both in food retail as well as in the Italian food service sector.
The company boasts of innovation and product quality with its popular Sorbissimo sorbet drink which is enjoyed in Italian cuisine and served between courses or as a dessert.
Pasticceria Quadrifoglio is also successfully involved in Italian ice cream (gelato).
The founders, the Canali family will continue to play a leading role in operating activities of the company.
Emmi said that it will continue to follow and build on the successful model of the founding family and their team including by leveraging synergies with the other “Emmi Dessert Italia” subsidiaries.
The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the relevant competition authorities.
Emmi recently increased its stake in the Brazilian dairy manufacturer Laticínios Porto Alegre Indústria e Comércio S.A from 40% to 70%.
The deal gives Emmi a significant footprint in the Brazilian dairy market as well as expanding its market presence in Latin America and beyond Chile and Mexico.
It also acquired 66% stake in Austrian goat’s and sheep’s milk processor Leeb Biomilch GmbH.
Leeb Biomilch supplies organic goat’s and sheep’s milk products in fresh and UHT milk, milk drinks and yogurt.
