Danone launches Activia Live Culture Smoothies range in UK

UK – Danone UK has introduced a new range of bottled Live Culture Smoothies to expand its Activa portfolio.

Danone has launched two flavours orange fruit and veg & red fruit and veg with each containing high counts of live cultures, providing a source of protein, calcium and fibre, and contains no added sugar.

The orange fruit and veg is a blend of Activia yogurt with mango, peach, carrot, date and linseed while the red fruit and veg, featuring Activia yogurt, strawberry, blueberry, beetroot, pomegranate, persimmon and chia seeds.

Activia brand manager, Ben Kind said that the company is continually adopting its range of fermented products in order to meet the changing consumer needs.

“With 30 years of experience, and our passion for happy guts, we’re really excited to launch our new Live Culture Smoothies, which contain all the goodness of our Activia yogurt along with a delicious portion of fruit and veg.

“We are continually adapting our range of fermented products to ensure that we are meeting evolving consumer demands.

“We know that younger consumers in particular want both nutrition and convenience – rather than having to choose between one or the other.

“Our Live Culture Smoothies will launch in a convenient bottle format, ensuring that this delicious and nutritious product can be enjoyed on the go,” Kind said.

The product launch will be supported by a nationwide media campaign with a digital focus, including influencer and shopper activation.

“This is a big step change for Activia, entering into a new category and shelf position. We’re confident our brand credentials and fantastic new range will open up great potential to leverage the growth of fermented products.”

Activia Live Culture Smoothies hit shelves across the UK from August 2019 with a recommended retail price of £2.09 (US$2.34) per bottle, reports FoodBev.

Danone is expanding its dairy alternatives category, set to rapidly grow as a result of continued consumer inclination to healthier drinks.

Danone recently launched a new line of Oatmilk Yogurt Alternatives as an extension of its dairy alternatives portfolio which includes milks, frozen desserts and another yogurt brand from Oat Yeah in the US.
