NIGERIA – CHI Limited, Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer good company has donated cartons of its dairy milk brand, Hollandia Evaporated Milk to several non-governmental organisations, frontline medical workers and vulnerable communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report by This Day, beneficiaries of the donations include Nigerian Red Cross Society (Lagos Branch), Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (Lagos Chapter), Heritage Homes and Orphanage, as well as Old Peoples’ Home (Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development).
In addition, Chi Limited donated 15,000 cartons of Hollandia Evap Milk to the COVID-19 Presidential Taskforce and to several Isolation & Treatment Centers across States of the Federation.
Hollandia Evaporated Milk is a rich source of calcium and vitamins B1, B6, B12 & D – nutrients which can help to boost the body’s immune system.
“With body building protein, fat and carbohydrates which are also contained in the product, medical experts have confirmed that having a healthy immune system is especially important to defend the body against infections from viruses, bacteria and other illnesses,” stated the company.
Managing Director of CHI Limited, Mr. Deepanjan Roy added that, “As a socially responsive company, our aim is to support organisations in delivering the healthy nourishment that Hollandia Evaporated Milk provides to medical workers and economically vulnerable groups during this challenging time when maintaining good health is of utmost priority.”

Recently, the Coca-Cola Company together with the Coca-Cola System, comprising of its bottling partners worldwide and the company’s global philanthropic arm, The Coca-Cola Foundation (TCCF) committed US$17m across Africa in response to COVID-19 pandemic.
With the tag line “In this Together,” the beverage company in partnership with NGOs have been deploying a range of resources, including capabilities, funds and products to support governments, communities and local economies in their urgent efforts to contain the spread and impact of the Coronavirus since its outbreak on the continent.
In the US$17m support, the Coca-Cola System is committing US$13million to support the continent through the various phases of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, TCCF has granted just under US$4 million to international and local NGOs, such as the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Amref Health.
The US$4m facility is aimed to facilitate procurement and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPEs) and other critical needs for frontline workers and to help fund ICU-enabled ambulances for example in Mauritius and Madagascar.
