US – Belgium-based multinational drink and brewing company AB InBev has expanded the portfolio of its Bud Light brand with the addition of new Seltzer Lemonades.

The new offering which will be available in the US market as a variety pack comes in four flavours: original lemonade, black cherry lemonade, strawberry lemonade and peach lemonade.

With an ABV of 5%, Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade is brewed with cane sugar and natural fruit flavours, and contains just 100 calories and less than 1g of sugar per drink.

Andy Goeler, vice president of marketing, Bud Light noted that after launching Bud Light Seltzer last year, the drink quickly became one of the top innovations in the entire category and in the history of the brand.

“We are excited to continue expanding our portfolio with the new Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade variety pack,” Goeler added.

The launch of new Seltzer Lemonades is in response to a rise in demand for Hard Seltzers both in the United states and Europe.

Analysts say that the rise in demand is being fueled by increased consumer preference for low alcohol content, low calories, and low carbohydrates beverages.

“Our Seltzer Lemonade marries the bold flavours of lemonade with the refreshing bubbliness of seltzer; this new offering is perfect for both established seltzer fans and those who are looking to give seltzer a try.”

According to Allied Market Research, the hard seltzer market size was valued at $3,831.9million in 2019, and is estimated to reach $10,921.9million by 2027, registering a CAGR of 12.7% from 2021 to 2027.

According to hard seltzer market analysis, on the basis of ABV content, the ABV more than 5% segment accounted for the around one-third half of the global hard seltzer market share in 2019, and is expected to sustain its share during the forecast period.

This is majorly attributed to increase in shift of consumers from alcoholic beverages such as sprits, beer, and wine toward hard seltzer with more than 5% of ABV.

Furthermore, hard seltzer with 5% ABV is considered as standard proportion of ingredients, which is majorly produced by the manufactures.

AB InBev’s new Seltzer Lemonades are in perfect alignment with the market given that their ABV is on the range of 5% which is the highly sought-after drink currently in the market.

“Our Seltzer Lemonade marries the bold flavours of lemonade with the refreshing bubbliness of seltzer; this new offering is perfect for both established seltzer fans and those who are looking to give seltzer a try,” says Goeler.

Bud Light Seltzer Lemonade will be available nationwide in 12oz slim can variety 12-packs, starting 18 January.

Last year, Bud Light unveiled new limited-edition hard seltzer varieties for the holiday season, featuring ‘ugly sweater’ designs and festive flavours.
