USA – Global IT consulting firm Accenture and consumer goods multinational Unilever have announced a strategic collaboration to harness Unilever’s AI research and technology implementation for enhancing productivity and driving efficiencies.

This partnership aims to accelerate growth powered by AI on a large scale.

The collaboration will kick off at Unilever’s global AI Lab, Horizon3 Labs, located in Toronto. The focus includes exploring new applications to scale generative AI, utilizing assets such as Accenture’s AI Navigator and proprietary “switchboard.”

Accenture recently introduced a range of services aimed at helping companies tailor and scale the benefits of generative AI.

The services include the proprietary generative AI model “switchboard,” customization techniques, model-managed services, and specialized training programs.

The switchboard enables users to select models based on business context, cost, and accuracy factors.

These initiatives tap into Accenture’s US$3 billion investment in data and AI, connecting Unilever with experts and leveraging Accenture’s ecosystem partnerships, ventures, and strategic investments within its Center for Advanced AI, comprising over 1,450 patents and insights from 300 generative AI projects.

Unilever’s global AI lab, Horizon3 Labs, will host the collaboration. The companies will explore new applications to scale generative AI, utilizing assets from Accenture’s AI Navigator and its ‘switchboard.’

“This collaboration builds on our relationship of more than three decades with Unilever, which continues to raise the bar as a digital powerhouse and industry leader,” Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture, stated.

“The combination of Horizon3 Labs’ disruptive innovation with Accenture’s deep expertise and strong ecosystem partnerships will help Unilever scale AI and generative AI more rapidly and responsibly across its business and discover new pathways to value.”

Steve McCrystal, Chief Enterprise and Technology Officer at Unilever highlighted the potential of combining Horizon3 Labs’ disruptive innovation with Accenture’s expertise to help Unilever scale AI and generative AI more rapidly and responsibly across its business.

This collaboration exemplifies the increasing trend of enterprises partnering to harness the potential of AI for innovation, efficiency, and growth in various industries.
