USA – Acme Smoked Fish Corp. has recently announced its acquisition of fellow Brooklyn-based company, Banner Smoked Fish.
Although the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, this merger brings together two family-run businesses with a long history of amicable rivalry and dedication to high-quality smoked fish.
Adam Caslow, managing partner at Acme and a fourth-generation member of the business, expressed enthusiasm about the union.
“We’re excited to combine our family businesses to achieve a shared goal of producing exceptional smoked fish,” Caslow stated.
“Working alongside the Attias family is a thrilling opportunity, and our collective legacy and dedication to quality will help us better serve our expanding customer base.”
Over the past few months, the teams from Acme and Banner have collaborated closely to ensure a seamless transition while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Banner Smoked Fish founder Avi Attias and his son, Eli, will transition their operations from Coney Island to Acme’s Greenpoint production facility.
The acquisition allows both brands to continue offering their extensive lines of smoked and cured fish, including salmon, whitefish, sable, tuna, herring, trout, whiting, and smoked fish salads.
Additionally, Acme customers will now have access to Banner’s premium kosher smoked fish, certified by the Central Rabbinical Congress (CRC).
Avi Attias, who founded Banner Smoked Fish in 1988, sees this merger as a natural progression for both businesses.
“After more than three decades of growing our business and serving our loyal customers, joining forces with Acme is a logical next step,” Attias remarked.
“Our shared values and commitment to quality make this a smooth transition, offering our bagel and deli clients an even wider selection of delicious products.”
Acme plans to expand its product line nationally. New offerings will include the first branded cold-smoked tuna on the market and a smoked salmon dip featuring Mike’s Hot Honey.
Furthermore, Acme aims to open a larger production facility in Florida and is exploring opportunities to enter new segments within the smoked fish market.
Established in 1906, Acme Smoked Fish Corp. has a global footprint with production facilities in Brooklyn, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Florida, Chile, and Denmark.
