NETHERLANDS- Dutch food and beverage company has announced the acquisition of dried foods and nuts company Caldic Food Service and FSR (Retail) for an undisclosed amount.
The move is intended to broaden Acomo’s snacks portfolio and expand its reach in the Northern European market. The food and beverage company revealed it expects to close the deal by the end of Q3 2024 amid approval by investment regulators in FSR’s home market in Sweden.
FSR owns nuts, seeds, dried fruit, kernel, marzipan, and pulses processing facility in Malmö, Sweden, serving the Swedish market together with Germany, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. Almo revealed it intends to leverage these facilities and their distribution networks in the Northern European countries.
FSR lauded the move, praising Acomo’s commitment to growth and expansion in the food and snacks industry, which it expects to affect its growth trajectory and strategy positively.
Patrick Wibroe, FSR’s Commercial Director, said, “We firmly believe this is the right moment to join Acomo to further strengthen our position in the Nordics, and extend our portfolio with many new products in line with our strategy and core products.”
Allard Goldschmeding, Acomo’s CEO, said, “This bolt-on acquisition allows us to establish a local presence in the Nordic markets.”
“The combination of trading and new value-added services such as customer concept packing, roasting, and producing is a proven approach to reinforcing our position in the supply chains we are active in, enabling us to provide answers to growing customer demand.”
Acomo has similar snack companies in its multi-faceted business, including Catz International and Tovano, both of which are nuts and spice suppliers. The company also owns Royal Van Rees, a tea producer.
Caldic Food Service welcomed the acquisition. The company praised Acomo’s experience and expertise in trading and distributing food products in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe, which it views as an assurance of future growth.
Gustav Larsson, Caldic Foods’ Managing Director, said, “At Acomo, with a longstanding track record in trading and distributing food products and ingredients, our dried fruits and nuts business can flourish, and our colleagues who join them will have the opportunity to advance their careers in a company where this segment is central to the strategy.”
