KENYA – Kenya Cooperative Creameries boss Kipkirui Langat has been replaced with Nixon Sigey.

In a gazette notice Friday, Industrialisation Cabinet secretary Mohamed Adan ended Langat’s tenure three months prior to the expiry of his term.

“Adan Mohamed the Cabinet secretary Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise development appoints Nixon Kipkemoy Sigey to be the managing director of New Kenya Cooperative Creameries for a period of three years with effect from January 1 2015,” said the gazette notice.

“The appointment of Dr. Kipkirui Lang’at is revoked with effect from January 2015.”

Langat has been at the helm of New KCC – which is set for privatiation- since March 2011.

The government wants to sell majority stake of New KCC to dairy farmers.

Despite government saying it will sell most shares to farmers-around 40 per cent- the farmers have demanded a bigger share of around 80 per cent.

Farmers have previously said they would be disadvantaged if the sale of the New KCC shares is done through Nairobi securities Exchange.
