ADM appoints Carrie Nichol as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

USA—The Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (ADM) has appointed Cargill executive Carrie Nichol as its vice president and chief account officer, effective 1 March 2025.

Nichol brings over 20 years of finance and accounting experience. She joins ADM from Cargill, where she served as senior vice president, chief accounting officer, and global process leader from 2021 to 2025.

As chief accounting officer, Nichol will report to executive vice president and chief financial officer Monish Patolawala and oversee ADM’s external and management accounting, reporting processes, internal controls, and insurance and risk management department.

Patolawala said: “Carrie’s depth of knowledge and proven track record in corporate finance and accounting makes her an excellent addition to our finance organization and leadership team.

“We are confident that Carrie is the right person to lead this crucial part of our business. I look forward to working with her to continue executing our strategic priorities.”

Additionally, Nichol will succeed vice president and corporate controller Molly Strader Fruit, who will transition to a new role as vice president of total rewards and HR operations. After supporting Nichol in a smooth handover, she will report to Chief People Officer Jennifer Weber.

Last year, ADM also announced the appointment of Ismael Roig as interim chief financial officer following the decision of the ADM board of directors to place Vikram Luthar, chief financial officer and senior vice president, on administrative leave.

Roig’s familiarity with ADM’s business positions him well to lead the finance organisation during this critical period.

The decision to place Vikram Luthar on administrative leave is pending the outcome of the investigation conducted by outside counsel for ADM and the board’s Audit Committee.

The investigation was initiated in response to a voluntary document request by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and ADM is actively cooperating with the SEC in this matter. Vikram Luthar was appointed CFO in April 2022.

Terry Crews, lead director, said. “The board takes these matters very seriously; pending the outcome of the investigation, the board determined that it was advisable to place Mr. Luthar on administrative leave.”

In response to his appointment, Roig said he looks forward to working closely with the management team and board, including the Audit Committee, to resolve this matter and continue to drive value for stockholders and customers.
