USA – ADM Milling has received recognition from two professional milling and baking industry associations for promoting workplace safety awareness in the year 2018.

42 ADM milling locations were honored by the American Bakers Association after the business recorded a DART (Days Away Restricted or Transferred) rate of .40 and a TCIR (Total Case Incident Rate) of only .80 for the year.

Through its Safety Recognition Program established in 2016, ABA recognizes individual member company sites that excel in safety while increasing workplace safety awareness and emphasizing the importance of employee safety in the baking industry.

Participation in the program is open to ABA members with facilities under the jurisdiction of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and OSHA-approved state plans.

According to ABA, the program will encourage development of comprehensive safety and health programs at the individual plant level, thus improving morale and reduce expenses related to illness and injuries.

The 2018 ABA Safety Recognition Program recognized 160 locations which achieved a high level of safety performance as an ongoing effort to reduce work related injuries and illnesses.

Other recipients of the award included various milling locations belonging to Ardent Mills and ARYZTA.

ADM was also honored by International Association of Operative Millers (IOAM) after 35 milling locations, representing more than 1,500 employees, completed 2018 without a single recordable safety incident.

“These achievements are a direct reflection of the importance ADM and each individual employee places on safety each day,” said Kevin Like, vice president, commercial and sales, ADM Milling.

“Safety is ingrained as a critical part of our culture, and we understand that it has to be the top priority in everything we do.

“We are honored by this recognition and proud of the progress we continue to make on our safety journey as a company.”

For ADM, which is of the world’s ‘ABCD’ companies in agricultural trading, the award is a milestone towards a sustainable way of doing business.

Last year, ADM together with General Mills and Agrible, received the 2018 Collaboration of the Year Award from the Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture for outstanding sustainability leadership.
