KENYA – Africa Logistics Properties, a Nairobi-based commercial property developer, has appointed Raghav Gandhi as its new CEO.
Gandhi, a seasoned real estate professional with a strong track record in emerging markets, brings valuable experience from South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.
His recent accomplishments include managing two student accommodation Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in Kenya, where he successfully raised substantial capital from both local and international investors.
Gandhi’s appointment follows the departure of Richard Hough, who led ALP for six years and oversaw significant projects such as the development of Tatu City in northern Nairobi, East Africa’s largest industrial park.
Under Hough’s leadership, ALP earned recognition for its environmental sustainability efforts, including being named an IFC Global EDGE Champion. Maris CEO Charlie Tryon expressed gratitude for Hough’s contributions and welcomed Gandhi, expressing confidence in his ability to steer ALP in a new strategic direction.
ALP continues to make strides in the logistics and warehousing sector with several notable latest developments.
Firstly, their latest initiative targets Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by offering warehousing solutions tailored to their needs.
The newly constructed warehouses in Limuru, part of the ALP West complex at Tilisi, aim to streamline supply chain management for SMEs. Named after Uganda’s Lake Kyoga, these warehouses cover a total area of 107,639 square feet and were completed within a year of groundbreaking in June 2021.
Moreover, Trade, Investment, and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria recently welcomed ALP’s endeavor, highlighting the importance of enhanced warehousing infrastructure in driving economic growth and trade facilitation.
ALP has set an ambitious goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, demonstrating its dedication to sustainability. Beyond physical infrastructure, the company is committed to implementing climate-smart practices, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable industrial real estate.
Finally, since its inception in 2017, ALP has operated warehouses in Ruiru, Kiambu County, accommodating prominent companies like Twiga Foods and Copia. By providing high-quality warehousing solutions for businesses of all sizes, ALP continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s logistics landscape and fostering economic growth.
With Raghav Gandhi at the helm, ALP is poised to build upon its achievements and further enhance its contribution to sustainable development and economic prosperity in the region.
