KENYA – African Originals (AOL) has officially joined the Bar, Hotel, and Liquor Traders Association (BAHLITA), marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to forge strong partnerships within Kenya’s hospitality and bar services sector.
Kelvin Kuria, Commercial Director of African Originals, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to officially join BAHLITA, an organization that has consistently championed the interests and growth of entrepreneurs in the hospitality and bar services sector.”
He noted that the partnership comes at a crucial time as African Originals seeks to leverage BAHLITA’s extensive network to foster engagement and collaborative opportunities.
The partnership is expected to create a platform for addressing common industry challenges, influencing policy formulation, and promoting best practices across the sector.
AOL aims to contribute actively to developing a favorable business environment that supports sustainable growth and economic prosperity.
According to Statista, Kenya’s accommodation and food services sector grew by 26 percent in the third quarter of 2023, making it a significant contributor to the country’s GDP.
Strengthening alliances within this sector is essential for addressing shared concerns and ensuring continued growth and stability.
Kuria highlighted the company’s commitment to community contributions, stating, “Our business has grown hand-in-hand with local economies by forging long-term partnerships with government and national associations such as BAHLITA.”
He noted that BAHLITA’s affiliation provides opportunities for African Originals to engage in policy-related initiatives and offer guidance on matters concerning the alcoholic beverages industry.
The announcement comes shortly after African Originals raised KES 257.4 million (US$2 million) from investors, including Phoenix Beverages Limited, Chandaria Capital, Perivoli Innovations, and Amaya Capital.
The funds will be used to scale production, expand the product line, and grow the brand’s presence in Kenya and beyond.
