US – Applied Food Sciences, Inc has received Non-GMO Project verification for four of its caffeine ingredients allowing the use of organic caffeine into its products and brands.

As an ingredient supplier, AFS is boosting its clean label which consumers are increasingly associating with natural, organic and non-genetically modified organism claims.

AFS offers PurCaf organic Caffeine- a 95% caffeine extract from organic green coffee beans, PurTea Organic Caffeine and JAVA.g, a polyphenolic blend of caffeine and antioxidants.

Getting the four key ingredients Non-GMO Project verification adds its credentials as the most trusted third-party verification for non-GMO foods and products in the US.

The company provides research and development of functional botanical ingredients in a bid to prevent GM foodstuffs from being present in retail food products.

AFS said that the achievement was a great mile boost for suppliers, brands and retailers in their commitment to provide consumers with transparent choices in the market place.

“The Non-GMO Project celebrates Applied Food Sciences achievements in verifying four of its products and their commitment to providing consumers a transparent choice in the marketplace,” said Courtney Pineau, Associate Director for The Non-GMO Project.

According to Chris Fields, VP of Scientific Affairs at AFS, collaboration with the Non-GMO Project aligned with the company’s values in equality and transparency through its supply chain.

“PurCaf and PurTea, organic caffeine sources, are now the only Non-GMO Project Verified caffeine ingredients on the market today,”

“Brands that want to incorporate organic caffeine into their products can now provide consumers an added layer of trust when they are searching for cleaner labels,” said Chris Fields.
