EGYPT – Al Ahram Beverages Company (ABC), a subsidiary of global beverage giant Heineken N.V., has revealed plans for a €30 million (US$33.1M) investment as part of its ongoing expansion in Egypt.
The company also announced the relocation of its headquarters to the MIVIDA business complex in New Cairo, effective from September 1, 2023.
ABC’s Managing Director, Nikolay Mladenov, emphasized that the investment demonstrates the company’s confidence in the Egyptian market.
“As part of our ambitious growth plans and unwavering trust in the Egyptian market, we are proud to announce increasing our investment of almost €30 million in 2023,” Mladenov said.
The investment includes the new headquarters in New Cairo, situated in the fifth settlement, a rapidly developing business hub in the capital.
The new office space features a modern, flexible design that supports ABC’s commitment to sustainable business practices.
Key sustainability initiatives include energy-efficient lighting, digital documentation to reduce paper waste, and the elimination of single-use plastics.
In addition to the new headquarters, a substantial portion of the investment has been directed toward ABC’s Sharkiya plant.
The plant, which produces the popular Fayrouz malt beverage, will see the installation of two new state-of-the-art production lines.
These upgrades will expand the facility’s production capacity to 3.7 million hectolitres (MHL) and create additional job opportunities.
ABC also announced ongoing efforts to support environmental sustainability in its operations.
The company is conducting a study to reduce carbon emissions, with a goal of achieving Net-Zero emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 and across its entire value chain by 2040.
Over the past five years, ABC has invested more than EGP 50 million in projects such as waste management and improving water sources in areas like Siwa and the 15th of May district.
The investment solidifies ABC’s long-term commitment to Egypt, where it has been operating for over 120 years, employing more than 1,600 people.
