Al Watania Poultry signs agreement with Halal Products Development Company

SAUDI ARABIA – Halal Products Development Company (HPDC) and Al Watania Poultry have entered into a strategic agreement to boost their presence in the Middle East.

This agreement is also meant to drive innovation in the halal industry and enhance supply chains in line with global standards.

Al Watania Poultry, headquartered in Qassim, produces over one million chickens and 1.5 million eggs daily, according to its official website.

Established in 1977 by Sheikh Suleiman Al Rajhi, the company employs more than 7,500 people and holds an estimated 30% share of Saudi Arabia’s poultry market.

Beyond its domestic operations, Al Watania Poultry has expanded across the Gulf region, where it supplies approximately 40% of the market.

This agreement comes just weeks after Al Watania Poultry announced a partnership with Kantar, a global market research firm, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the Gulfood Exhibition 2025 in Dubai.

Through its collaboration with Kantar, Al Watania Poultry seeks to strengthen its market position by utilizing data-driven insights, consumer behavior analysis, and industry research.

Company representatives indicate that these partnerships are part of broader efforts to adapt to shifting market conditions and reinforce Saudi Arabia’s food security.

Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that Al Watania Poultry had been evaluating a potential sale, with sources revealing that BSF Capital had been engaged to assess possible options for the company’s future.

Investment and Ownership Discussions

Despite uncertainty over its ownership structure, Al Watania Poultry has continued to invest in its infrastructure and production capacity.

Nine years ago, the company explored the possibility of listing on the Saudi stock exchange, but the plan did not materialize.

More recently, it launched a modern cooling facility aimed at improving efficiency and increasing production output.

While discussions regarding a potential sale are ongoing, Al Watania Poultry remains a major player in Saudi Arabia’s poultry industry and continues to expand its influence across the region.
