INDIA – Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABDL), India’s third-largest spirits company, has formed a strategic partnership with Roust Corporation to distribute Russian Standard Vodka in India.
The collaboration marks an important step for ABDL, strengthening its premium spirits portfolio in response to the increasing demand for luxury beverages in the Indian market.
Russian Standard Vodka, known for its high quality and distinguished heritage, holds a significant 30 percent market share in the premium vodka category in Russia and is exported to over 85 countries worldwide.
Produced from superior ingredients, such as glacial water from Lake Ladoga and winter wheat from the Russian Steppes, the vodka is recognized for its exceptional craftsmanship and sophistication.
Ivan Alferov, CEO International of Roust, emphasized that India is one of the most dynamic markets for expansion, and this distribution agreement with ABDL positions Russian Standard to tap into the country’s fast-growing premium vodka segment.
Leveraging ABDL’s extensive distribution network and market expertise, the partnership will bring Russian Standard Vodka to Indian consumers in three variants: Original, Gold, and Platinum.
The vodkas will be priced at Rs 2,200 (US$26.17), Rs 2,600 (US$30.93), and Rs 5,000 (US$59.47), respectively, in Maharashtra.
India’s vodka market is expanding rapidly, with over 13 million cases sold annually and a growth rate of more than 20 percent. This partnership sets ABDL up for significant growth in the premium spirits category.
The announcement follows the appointment of Anil Somani as Chief Financial Officer in September 2024.
Additionally, the company filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in July to raise up to Rs 15 billion (US$180 million) to reduce outstanding borrowings.
Despite a slight dip in revenue for the year ending March 2023, the company’s profit after tax increased by 8.5 percent.
