US – Armada Nutrition, a manufacturer specializing in ready-to-mix powder and capsule applications, has opened a custom-built 438,000 square feet contract manufacturing plant in Salt Lake City.

Armada Nutrition, founded in 2015, attributes its growth in recent years partially to the increasing industry demand for higher quality and safety standards in manufacturing practices as well as the growth driven by vertical integration afforded by sister company Prinova.

Prinova is a global leading distributor of amino acids, proteins, sweeteners, and other functional ingredients.

Armada’s new facility, combined with Prinova’s existing footprint in the nutrient premix space, adds up to over one million square feet of premix manufacturing, said Armada President Brent Laffey.

He added that this second facility of the powder and capsule products manufacturer enhances the ability to offer the speed, service, and innovation the industry demands.

Supported by Nagase, the parent company of Armada Nutrition, the state-of-the-art facility offers unprecedented safety, quality, and sustainability practices.

According to General Manager Jason Young, Salt Lake City incorporates distinctive features that benefit both people and the planet.

A Matcon enclosed in-blending system has been installed at the site, improving production efficiency, reducing scrap, and bolstering food safety.

The facility also has a RedZone, which is a paperless quality document interface designed to eliminate the potential for human error and reduce waste.

To save on energy usage, the facility will harness its lighting from natural light after being designed with hundreds of large skylights and windows to improve employee experience, becoming unique to the construction of a manufacturing facility.

The location also features innovative powder nutrient premix capabilities to support the firm’s growth in the “ready-to-drink” beverage category.

Similar to Armada’s Tennessee location, Salt Lake City has received NSF and NSF for Sport certifications, coming at a time when “ready-to-drink” is driving significant growth for many sports and lifestyle nutrition brands.

Data Bridge Market Research projects the ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages market valued at US$89 billion in 2021 to reach a value of US$141.85 billion by 2029, at a CAGR of 6.00% during the forecast period of 2022 to 2029.

Taping more courageously into the growing segment of the food and beverage industry, Armada said its dual offering of turnkey powder products and nutrient premixes allows its customers to consolidate major spending that might otherwise be fragmented.
