MEXICO – Monarq, a prominent player in the import business, is set to bolster its collaboration with Asahi Group Holding’s whisky brand, Nikka Whisky, as it aims to introduce the whisky to the Caribbean market.

The extension of their partnership follows their successful venture into the Mexican market last year.

“After successfully launching Nikka in the Mexican market in 2023, we are pleased to extend our partnership to the Caribbean territory,” said Monarq Managing Director Robert de Monchy.

Emiko Kaji, General Manager of Nikka Global Marketing & Sales Department, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Monarq Group beyond the Mexican market, to expand our presence in the Caribbean.”

Kaji emphasized the confidence in Monarq’s understanding of the region’s preferences and market dynamics.

Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, Nikka Whisky boasts a diverse portfolio, including a range of Japanese whiskies, Coffey Vodka, and Gin.

Monarq, which already handles various Japanese whiskies, sees Nikka’s offerings as a perfect fit for their commitment to offering customers the finest spirits from around the world.

Robert de Monchy added, “Nikka Japanese Whisky aligns perfectly with our commitment to offering our customers the finest selection of spirits from around the world.

Nikka’s dedication to quality and tradition resonates strongly with Caribbean consumers, and we are excited to embark on this journey together.”

Earlier this month, Asahi Group Holdings appointed Kirsch Import to handle Nikka whisky distribution in Germany in a strategic move to enhance Nikka’s global presence.

Kirsch Import, known for distributing various whiskies including Ballantine’s Scotch and Black Velvet Canadian whisky, will now oversee Nikka’s distribution in the region.

The importer, based in Stuhr in northern Germany, already distributes Japanese whiskies Kanosuke and Akkeshi.

Asahi Group Holdings also announced significant changes to its corporate identity, introducing a new group corporate logomark and corporate statement effective April 1, 2024.

The new logo incorporates the established Asahi logo with a ‘Sunrise Arc,’ symbolizing the company’s aspiration to brighten the world.

The new corporate statement is designed to enhance the Asahi Group Philosophy (AGP), a guiding ethos introduced in 2019 that underpins all business activities and is centered around the Group’s mission to “deliver on our great taste promise and bring more fun to life”.
