SWEDEN – Atlas Copco AB, a Swedish multinational industrial company manufacturing industrial tools and equipment has appointed Vagner Rego as the President and CEO of the Atlas Copco Group, effective May 1st, 2024.
Rego, currently serving as Senior Executive Vice President and President of the Compressor Technique business area, will succeed Mats Rahmstrom, who is stepping down from his role after successfully leading the Group since 2017.
Vagner Rego, a seasoned leader with a comprehensive background in the company, joined Atlas Copco in 1996 as a trainee engineer in Brazil. Over the years, he has held various key positions, including Business Line Manager for Compressor Technique Service in Brazil and Vice President Marketing and Sales for the Compressor Technique Service division.
Rego’s expertise also extends to his role as General Manager for Power Technique’s Customer Center in Brazil.
Hans Straberg, Chair of the Board, commended Rego, stating, “Vagner Rego is an appreciated leader with a proven track record in successfully growing and developing the Compressor Technique business area.
With his extensive experience and in-depth business and technology knowledge he is very well suited to lead and further develop the Group.”
Atlas Copco acquires Hycomp Inc. Technology
In addition to the announcement, Atlas Copco announced the acquisition of Utah-based Hycomp Inc.’s technology.
Hycomp is a privately owned company located north of Salt Lake City, Utah, and has 37 employees. The company designs, produces, sells and services specialized high-pressure oil-free compressors and boosters for a variety of industries.
Even though the purchase price was not disclosed, Atlas Copco disclosed that the privately owned company will become part of the Professional Air division within the Compressor Technique business area.
“Hycomp has extensive know-how in high-pressure oil-free compressors, and the acquired technology complements our existing technologies, allowing us to extend our current product range,” said Vagner Rego.
In December, the company acquired Sykes Group Pty Ltd from Seven Group Holdings Ltd, a company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).
Sykes is a global manufacturer of dewatering pumps, predominantly used for transferring water with solids and abrasive nature within the mining and wastewater sectors.
