Atlas Copco expands into India with new manufacturing facility

The new manufacturing facility will strengthen local production and meet the growing demand for innovative, high-performance solutions in the region.

INDIA – Atlas Copco, a Swedish multinational industrial company, has launched a new manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune, which is approximately 270,000 sq. Ft.

The facility will manufacture air and gas compressors and systems, including CNG (compressed natural gas), biogas, hydrogen compressors, air dryers, N2 and O2 generators, medical filters and accessories.

This underscores the company’s commitment to advancing innovative solutions while delivering high-quality products tailored to the local market.

Philippe Ernens, President of the Compressor Technique Business Area, said, “This new facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology to cater to local demand, ensuring shorter lead times and greater capacity.

“This enables us to offer a wider range of products, meet market expectations, and provide better lifecycle support, further strengthening our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.”

Built on Industry 4.0 principles, the company will integrate innovative manufacturing technologies and sustainability. Eighty per cent of the energy required for plant operations will be sourced from a 1.3 MW rooftop solar system and grid supply.

In addition, the facility includes rainwater harvesting, advanced cooling systems, and multiple testing capabilities to meet current and future production and product development needs.

Thierry Monart, Vice President and Managing Director, Atlas Copco India, said, “The launch of our new manufacturing plant marks a significant milestone in Atlas Copco Group’s growth journey in India.

“This facility not only strengthens our commitment to localisation but also plays a vital role in driving the region’s job creation and skill development. We aim to contribute meaningfully to India’s manufacturing ecosystem by fostering local talent and innovation.”

The facility is supported by a robust internal audit system, quality management systems, and Six Sigma methodologies, which help improve business processes by reducing errors and increasing efficiency.
