Atlas Copco expands portfolio with acquisition of Masterfilter

SWEDEN – Atlas Copco Group, provider of innovative solutions for safe production processes, has acquired Masterfilter, a worldwide provider of innovative filtration solutions in Food & Beverage.

With this deal, Masterfilter becomes part of the Medical Gas Solutions division, within Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business area.

Philippe Ernens, President of the Compressor Technique Business Area, said, “This acquisition will expand our presence in Belgium and increase our product offering to the food, beverage, and chemical industries in Western Europe.”

The expansion follows Atlas Copco’s acquisition of JetCan Engineering Sdn Bhd, a compressor business based in Penang, Malaysia.

JetCan, established in 1996, specialises in selling and maintaining compressed air equipment and related accessories.

The company primarily serves northern Malaysian industries in food and beverage, electronics, medical devices, and other general manufacturing sectors.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Through the agreement, 24 employees from JetCan have joined Atlas Copco’s service division within its Compressor Technique Business Area.

Atlas Copco has recently been on an acquisition spree, increasing its market share in both the gas and compressed air sectors.

The company also announced plans to acquire ESA Service S.r.l., an Italian company specialising in leak detection and gas recovery systems.

ESA Service, headquartered in Treviglio, Italy, has been privately owned since its founding in 1980. The company employs 40 staff members and reported revenues of US$11.3 million in 2023.

According to Geert Follens, President of the Vacuum Technique Business Area at Atlas Copco, ESA Service has grown significantly by providing solutions to various industrial clients.

Although the purchase price remains undisclosed, the deal is anticipated to close in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Once finalized, ESA Service will become part of Atlas Copco’s Scientific Vacuum division under the Vacuum Technique Business Area.

The acquisitions are part of Atlas Copco’s ongoing expansion strategy.

In 2022, the company also expanded its business by acquiring Oxymat, a Danish provider of on-site oxygen and nitrogen solutions.

The privately held business has production facilities in Denmark and Slovakia and has 146 employees.

Oxymat specialises in on-site gas-generating systems for various industries, including aquaculture, water treatment, medical, maritime, and mining.
