USA – AW Farms, located in Argillite, Kentucky, has announced a recall of approximately 6,900 pounds of hot dog products due to the lack of federal inspection during production, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
This recall affects ready-to-eat hot dogs that were manufactured on multiple dates starting around May 30, 2024, and are marked with a 45-day shelf life.
The recall encompasses three distinct products: 10-pound boxes containing two 5-pound vacuum-sealed packages of “FRENCH CITY FOODS 6” 12-1 HOTDOGS,” “PORK, BEEF, DEXTROSE, SALT, SUGAR MAPLE GEO BROWN ALL MEAT HOTDOGS,” and “GEO BROWN ALL BEEF HOTDOGS.”
Each package bears varying production dates from approximately May 30, 2024, as noted on the labels.
These products are identifiable by establishment number “EST. 47635,” which is located within the USDA mark of inspection.
The problem came to light when a state public health partner alerted FSIS about the uninspected products.
An ensuing investigation revealed that the hot dogs were produced and distributed without undergoing the necessary federal inspection process.
Currently, there have been no reported cases of adverse health effects linked to the consumption of these hot dogs.
Nevertheless, consumers who have experienced any health issues related to these products are advised to seek medical attention promptly.
FSIS is now focused on ensuring that any remaining recalled products are removed from circulation.
Restaurants and hotels that may have received these hot dogs are being advised not to serve them.
The affected products should either be discarded or returned to the point of purchase.
To prevent further incidents, FSIS will conduct follow-up checks to confirm that the recall has been effectively communicated to all impacted customers and that the products have been removed from all distribution points.
