GERMANY- Leading manufacturer and supplier of natural flavoring ingredients Axxence has announced a long-term strategic research and development collaboration with Dutch research institute Wageningen Plant Research (WPR).
Axxence and WPR are extending their productive alliance, which has been in existence since 2015, with a partnership agreement for the following five years.
The objective of this extensive collaboration is to promote natural flavoring component research.
The main focus of the research initiatives will be the discovery and production of natural flavorings through the fermentation of sugar.
Projects for the fermentative production of natural raspberry ketone and natural indole are already at an advanced stage. They serve as a blueprint for new projects that will start in the coming months.
Peter van der Schaft, CEO of Axxence, commented, “At Axxence we believe that collaboration is the key to creativity and success.”
He noted that this cooperation is an important strategic step to accelerate the further development and diversification of their R&D pipeline.
“With proven expertise in plant science and a strong position within the Wageningen Food Valley infrastructure, WPR is the ideal partner for us. We will continue to invest heavily in our R&D efforts to continue to lead the natural flavor ingredient market,” added Peter.
Ruud van den Bulk, Head of Business Development & Legal Affairs at WPR said that over the past seven years they have advanced research in the field of natural flavor ingredients through various biotechnology projects and this cooperation will intensify even further.
He further stated that by combining Axxence’s deep understanding of flavors and our scientific expertise, they will simplify the development and commercialization of natural products.
