Azelis taps into Symrise potential to bolster food & nutrition presence in Indian and Indonesian markets

INDIA/INDONESIA – Ingredients supplier Azelis has partnered with flavor powerhouse Symrise in India and Indonesia to bring new solutions that enrich the taste and improve the nutritional profile of end products to these markets.

Symrise specializes in creating inspiring flavor ingredients and solutions and is best known for its taste-balancing options and natural ingredients that meet consumer demands and market trends

The new mandate builds on existing relationships with Symrise in other markets and sees Azelis adding Symrise’s dairy, confectionery, and bakery flavor portfolio to the group’s food & nutrition lateral value chain in India.

For Indonesia, the addition of Symrise’s dairy, bakery, processed meat, and culinary application flavors and ingredients enhances the group’s position in the local food & nutrition market segment.

Through this collaboration, which enhances the consumer experience with solutions that enrich the taste and improve the nutritional profile of end products, Azelis broadens its comprehensive offering in India and Indonesia while also giving new formulations and ingredient insights to partners

Kimberly Chung, Azelis Asia Pacific Business Development Director, said: “Our partnership with Symrise reinforces our position as a one-stop shop for customers, where we can provide them with high-quality, innovative flavor ingredients and comprehensive solutions thanks to our technical and formulation expertise.

“Symrise’s market-leading products are a great addition to our lateral value chain. Their extensive range of taste products will enhance our food & nutrition offering, complementing our portfolio of advanced texturizing, nutritional and processing aids products.”

In June, the specialty chemicals and food ingredients industry inaugurated its new Mexican headquarters in Mexico City, underscoring the Group’s commitment to invest and grow its operations in Latin America.

The company noted that the acquisition of Megafarma in January 2020, the launch of Azelis’ Regional Innovation Center in 2021, and the rebranding of the company to Azelis Mexico in early 2022, all paved the way to establishing a new headquarters for Azelis Mexico.

The facility, located adjacent to Azelis’ five industry-specific application labs, will provide the foundation for growing the Mexico-based team and further expanding into Latin America.

Azelis is also committed to completing the construction of its sixth application lab this year, which will strengthen the German flavor giant’s capacity.

In the financial data for the third quarter of the year, the company revealed a “much stronger than expected” organic growth.

After the first nine months of the year, Symrise recorded organic sales growth of 11.3% and Q3 organic growth of 13.6%. It accelerated from an already double-digit growth second quarter that expanded, bolstered by beverages and savory segments.

By region, Latin America led the organic growth of the company during the third quarter (26.7%), followed by North America (15.6%), Asia/Pacific region (13.9%), and EAME (8.1%).
