Azura Group’s cherry tomatoes rank among France’s top 10 brands

FRANCE – In 2023, Azura Group’s cherry tomatoes earned a spot as the 10th best-selling brand in France and the top-selling brand in the fruit and vegetable category, according to Kantar Worldpanel.

Nearly 16.9 million French families purchased 116 million Azura products throughout the year, with 75% of these customers making repeat purchases.

“This loyalty shows customers’ preference for Azura products and the reliability of our supply chains,” stated the Group.

Azura’s 18,000-member team focuses daily on delivering quality, tasty, and environmentally friendly products.

The group has made significant strides in reducing its environmental impact by implementing a corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy across its entire production chain.

This includes efforts to limit pesticide use, use energy-saving greenhouses, optimize water usage, minimize plastic packaging consumption, and recycle waste.

The group has also invested in supporting communities in southern Morocco through the Azura Foundation, which was founded in 2014.

The Foundation has initiated various educational and environmental projects benefiting 30,000 people. These projects include establishing schools, nurseries, educational centers for children with disabilities, and managing natural resources.

Azura and Suez’s Partnership on Organic Waste

Azura Group has partnered with Suez in a six-year contract to create two platforms for converting organic waste into compost.

These platforms will handle 116,000 tonnes of organic waste annually, producing 42,000 tonnes of compost and 43,000 tonnes of semi-finished refuse-derived fuel each year.

This collaboration seeks to address circular economy and resource preservation issues. The compost serves as an organic amendment to increase water retention and improve soil quality in response to water stress and climate challenges. Local agricultural producers will buy the produced compost, benefiting the region.

The partnership between Azura Group and Suez began in 2020 with the management and recycling of waste from Azura Group’s operations.

The current agreement solidifies their commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which aligns with Azura’s agreement with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTI).

“Sustainability and responsibility are at the heart of all Azura Group’s activities. This partnership with Suez demonstrates our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Azura Group CEO Hicham Harakat.

“The composting units will reduce our carbon footprint by around 16,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year.”
