USA – Specialty ingredients manufacturer Balchem Corporation has acquired Minnesota- headquartered Zumbro River Brand Inc for an undisclosed sum.

Zumbro specializes in developing, marketing, and manufacturing agglomerated and extruded products for the food and beverage industry.

The company is also market leader in high protein and specialty extruded snacks, cereals, and crisps, marketed under the brands Z-Crisps, Whey-Os, Whey-Vs, and Z-Texx Complete.

Zumbro will be integrated within Balchem’s Human Nutrition and Health Segment, a unit under the four division of Balchem which also include; Animal Nutrition & Health; Specialty Products; and Industrial Products.

The Human Nutrition & Health segment is Belachem’s best performing business generating third quarter sales of US$86.1 million of the total US$158.6 million in net sales that the company realized during the three months to end September 2019.

The Human Nutrition & Health segment delivers customized food and beverage ingredient systems, as well as key nutrients into a variety of applications across the food, supplement and pharmaceutical industries.

In April last year the company acquired Bioscreen Technologies, a privately held manufacturer of encapsulated and fermented feed nutrition ingredients, headquartered in Bertinoro, Italy.

Bioscreen, which was integrated within Balchem’s Animal Nutrition & Health business segment, manufactures high-performance encapsulates and fermented products that deliver value-added solutions to an international animal nutrition and health customer base.
