USA – Berlin Packaging, a leading global supplier of packaging, closures and related services has announced the acquisition of the UK manufacturer of closures, glass, and machinery for the bottling and packaging industry, H. Erben Ltd.
Berlin Packaging is set to benefit from H. Erben’s operations in South Africa, California through its California Capsules business and ecommerce.
Erben’s packaging strength in food and drinks sectors complements US$2.6 billion Berlin Packaging supply chain with customers across North America and Europe.
In a significant expansion move into the European market, Berlin Packaging bought Bruni Glass through a strategic acquisition that pushed the company’s 2016 global sales past US$1.2 billion, according to Berlin Packaging report.
The deal also works to boost presence in UK, South Africa, China, North America and Europe including Italy, France, Spain.
Customers from the three including Berlin Packaging, Bruni and Erben will benefit from a wider product portfolio, expanded market, with addition of warehouses in UK and SA, plus England-based quality lab.
The combined force will use expertise in developing in glass, plastic, metal and closures to serve a wide industry including rigid packaging, food, beverage, spirits, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical, personal care, household care, and industrial.
According to Andrew Berlin, Chairman and CEO of Berlin Packaging, the two manufacturers shares a common course, that is a focus on quality, service, and results for customers, commitment to acquire the best businesses in the packaging through organic growth.

As part of the agreement, all employees and locations will be retained, and Erben’s leadership, including Sasha Erben, will be continuing on in the same capacity.
However, H. Erben Ltd. will operate as Bruni Erben, to making it the Eighth acquisition in many years and the second since 2010.
