Beyond Meat to launch Beyond SmashBurger at Tesco stores in the UK

UK – Beyond Meat is expanding its product range in the UK with the introduction of the Beyond Smash burger, which will be available at Tesco stores nationwide starting January 1. 

This new plant-based burger offers a similar taste and texture to the original Beyond Burger but features a thinner patty that crisps when cooked. 

Each 100g serving contains 16g of protein, making it a versatile option for both burger buns and salads.

The Beyond Smash burger, which first launched on Ocado, is certified kosher, halal, and vegan, catering to a broad range of dietary preferences. 

The product is now being introduced at Tesco as part of the retailer’s ongoing effort to expand its plant-based offerings, both in-store and online. 

Molly Hannah, Tesco’s Assistant Buyer for Frozen Plant-Based and Vegetarian products, highlighted the company’s dedication to providing appealing plant-based alternatives for customers. 

“We’re excited to offer Beyond Smash to Tesco shoppers, particularly as they look for satisfying, plant-based choices during Veganuary,” she stated.

This move comes after Beyond Meat’s notable growth in the UK in 2024. 

In March, the Beyond Burger was introduced in the frozen section at over 800 Co-op stores, after being named the Best Vegan Burger of 2023 by Which. 

Just months later, the company launched the Spicy Beyond Burger Jalapeño at various UK retailers.

In addition, Beyond Meat has made strides in the travel sector. 

In October, the company partnered with SSP Group to bring the Beyond Burger to bars at UK airports and train stations. 

The burger debuted at 13 locations, with six more set to follow this month.

Lee Crane, Beyond Meat’s Regional Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the new product launch at Tesco. 

“We’re excited to make Beyond Smash available at Tesco, helping customers enjoy a trendy, plant-based burger with no compromise,” he said. 

The Beyond Smash burger will be available at 520 Tesco stores across the UK starting January 1.
