USA – Beyond Meat has introduced its latest innovation, Beyond Sun Sausage™, marking a significant departure from its traditional meat substitute offerings.
This new product, which emphasizes wholesome fruits, vegetables, and legumes, is available exclusively at Sprouts Farmers Markets, catering to the increasing consumer preference for clean-label ingredients.
Unlike Beyond Meat’s previous products designed to replicate beef, pork, or chicken, Beyond Sun Sausage highlights a variety of nutritious ingredients, including yellow pea, brown rice, faba bean, red lentils, spinach, and bell peppers.
Dariush Ajami, Chief Innovation Officer at Beyond Meat, expressed excitement about the launch, stating, “We’re delighted to bring a new dimension to the plant-based category with Beyond Sun Sausage. Packed with clean, plant-based proteins, this product underscores our commitment to enhancing the nutritional quality of plant-based meats while delivering delicious and healthy options.”
Available in three distinct flavors—Cajun, Pesto, and Pineapple Jalapeño—each sausage link offers 12 grams of protein and only 1 gram of saturated fat.
These products adhere to the nutritional standards set by the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check program and the American Diabetes Association’s Better Choices for Life program.
The introduction of Beyond Sun Sausage aligns with the company’s strategic response to market trends favoring clean-label products and countering negative perceptions of ultra-processed foods (UPFs).
Despite a revenue decline reported in Q1 financial earnings, CEO Ethan Brown remains positive about Beyond Meat’s future, viewing this new strategy as a turning point for 2024.
Earlier this year, Beyond Meat updated the formulations for its Beyond Burger, Beyond Beef, Beyond Sausage, and crumbles, focusing on preserving their meat-like texture and taste while enhancing nutritional value.
