bioMérieux finalises full acquisition of Neoprospecta
FRANCE – bioMérieux, a French in vitro diagnostics company, finalised the 100% acquisition deal of Brazil-based Neoprospecta on January 29th, 2025, for an undisclosed amount.
This closing comes two months after bioMérieux announced that it had signed an agreement to acquire Neoprospecta, a biotechnology company dedicated to data and genomic solutions for microbiological risk management in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Founded in 2011, the genomics solutions provider has since employed approximately 50 professionals who will now join bioMérieux.
Luiz Fernando Valter de Oliveira, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Neoprospecta acknowledged the partnership’s significance in enhancing their ability to develop new products, introduce their technologies to new markets, and better serve their existing customers in the food and pharma industries.

As part of its portfolio, Neoprospecta has developed Neobiome™, a strategic tool for decision-making based on microbiome information. This data and genomics analysis platform allows food and pharma industries to enhance the quality and safety of their production by helping track and control areas of contamination, assess and manage risk, improve processes, and define good practices for microbiological control.
With this acquisition, bioMérieux strengthens its Data & Genomics offer, which is composed of innovative pathogen and spoiler investigation tools to prevent contamination, reinforcing its Augmented Diagnostics approach.
The initial phase of this acquisition will expand data and genomics capabilities in Brazil and Latin America. Then, bioMérieux will gradually integrate Neoprospecta technologies into its unique portfolio and make them available in selected global markets.

This will enable their customers to make better, more informed, and faster decisions to augment quality assurance programs and protect consumer health.
