CANADA – Canadian sports hydration and nutrition company BioSteel has expanded its operations in Canada with the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Windsor, Ontario.
The “state-of-the-art” facility is set to enhance the company’s production capabilities and ensure high-quality standards for its products.
The facility has recently undergone an audit for National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certification, with full certification expected shortly. NSF certification is widely recognized as a mark of product quality and safety, an essential factor for a brand catering to professional athletes and sports enthusiasts.
According to BioSteel, the Windsor facility will specialize in producing powders and stick packs.
The site, equipped with advanced machinery, has the capacity to manufacture over 100 million stick packs annually and produce between 1,000 and 10,000 containers of powder per day, depending on demand.
“Having the ability to produce our own products and meet NSF standards is a complete game-changer for BioSteel,” said CEO Dan Crosby.
“It allows us to elevate our innovation and product quality while ensuring we remain the go-to brand for professional athletes and anyone seeking the best in hydration and nutrition. Establishing this facility in Windsor is about more than creating jobs – it’s about securing our position as a leader in sports hydration and nutrition.”
BioSteel, founded in 2009, is known for its range of clean hydration and nutrition products, including ready-to-drink sports beverages and powders.
While powders and stick packs will now be produced at the Windsor facility, BioSteel’s sports drinks will continue to be manufactured by Flow Beverage in Aurora, Ontario.
The two companies extended their partnership in January 2024 through a three-year agreement to produce BioSteel beverages in Tetra Prisma packaging, with an estimated revenue of over US$19 million for Flow Beverage during the agreement term.
In December 2024, BioSteel partnered with the Tzelalis Group, a global leader in sports medicine and nutrition distribution, to expand its product range internationally.
The collaboration aims to introduce BioSteel’s hydration mixes, protein solutions, and recovery products to key global markets, leveraging Tzelalis Group’s extensive network.
