Campari Australia has agreed to sell its Derrimut manufacturing facility to Garage Beverages as part of a strategic shift toward brand marketing.
AUSTRALIA – Campari Australia has signed an agreement to sell its Derrimut manufacturing facility to Garage Beverage Manufacturing as the company refocuses on brand sales and marketing.
Campari Australia Managing Director Jacopo Borsa stated that the sale aligns with a broader strategy to strengthen the company’s focus on core brands, including Aperol, Campari, Skyy Vodka, and Wild Turkey.
“We are pleased to partner with Garage Beverages, a local manufacturer with extensive experience and a strong commitment to excellence,” said Borsa, who took over as the business lead in June last year.
“We look forward to working with Garage Beverages over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.”
Following the completion of the sale, Garage Beverages will continue producing Campari Australia’s ready-to-drink (RTD) products at the Derrimut site, including the entire Wild Turkey RTD lineup for the Australian market.
Established in 2011, Garage Beverages operates a canning and bottling facility in Truganina, Victoria, located just minutes from the Campari site. The company has existing contracts with several liquor brands, including Coca-Cola-owned Billson’s RTD products.
The sale comes as Campari Group undergoes a significant global restructuring. In February, the company announced plans to cut its workforce by 10% to enhance financial sustainability. A Campari spokesperson stated that these measures, though challenging, are necessary for long-term stability.
Campari Group’s recently published global annual report revealed a 6% decline in sales for the Asia-Pacific region in 2024. Despite an overall downturn, Australia showed positive growth in the fourth quarter, driven by strong aperitif sales during the peak season.
Simon Hunt, Campari Group’s newly appointed global CEO, expressed confidence in the company’s long-term growth strategy. “Our leadership position in aperitifs presents an ever-growing opportunity given evolving consumer trends,” he said.
“Combined with our tequila and premium spirits portfolio, we see significant potential for geographic expansion.”
The sale of Campari Australia’s Derrimut site is expected to be finalized by mid-year.
