ITALY- Campari Group, a renowned Italian beverage company, is undergoing a significant leadership transition as CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz has officially announced his retirement after a remarkable 18-year journey with the company.
Kunze-Concewitz, who has been instrumental in transforming Campari Group into a global spirits powerhouse, will be stepping down from his role on April 11, 2024, to explore his personal passions.
Matteo Fantacchiotti, currently serving as the Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region, has been appointed as the Deputy CEO and will immediately assume the CEO position, marking a smooth transition in the company’s top leadership.
However, Kunze-Concewitz will continue his association with Campari Group as a non-executive director.
Kunze-Concewitz’s illustrious career at Campari Group began in 2005 when he joined as the Chief Marketing Officer. His relentless dedication and strategic vision swiftly earned him the CEO position in 2007.
During his tenure, Campari Group underwent a remarkable transformation, expanding its brand portfolio beyond its iconic aperitif. Notably, Kunze-Concewitz oversaw 27 strategic acquisitions since 2007, amounting to an impressive investment of €3 billion.
Reflecting on his retirement, Kunze-Concewitz expressed his gratitude for the trust and support he received throughout his journey.
He emphasized the careful preparation for this transition in line with the company’s corporate governance principles and commended the board’s cooperation.
He welcomed the passing of the torch to Matteo Fantacchiotti, praising his leadership capabilities and deep expertise in the spirits industry.
In response, Fantacchiotti expressed his honor and pride at his appointment as deputy CEO, acknowledging the exceptional position in which Kunze-Concewitz is leaving Campari Group.
