ITALY – Campari Group has boosted its Aperol production capacity with the launch of a new bottling line at its Novi Ligure plant, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategic growth trajectory.
The expansion, part of a €75 million (US$79.73M) investment, underscores Campari’s commitment to meeting the increasing global demand for its iconic brands.
Aperol, which has quintupled its growth in the last 10 years and achieved record performances, is the leading brand in Campari Group’s global sales (23.1% in 2023, 24% of the Group’s total sales) and also in Italy, where it grew by 8.2 percent in 2023.
Matteo Fantacchiotti, CEO of Campari Group, said: “We are proud to inaugurate the new bottling line dedicated to Aperol, which will allow us to increase our production capacity even more, allowing us to keep exporting worldwide the aperitif ritual, a symbol of the Italian lifestyle, characterized by a model of responsible consumption and of the highest quality.”
He highlighted the significance of the expansion as a testament to the company’s positive growth trend and unwavering dedication to quality and responsible consumption.
The Novi Ligure plant, inaugurated in 2004, has evolved over the years to become a pivotal hub for Campari Group’s production and distribution operations. With the addition of the new Aperol line, the plant now boasts seven bottling lines, contributing to a substantial increase in annual capacity by 100 million bottles.
Campari Group’s Novi Ligure hub serves as the production epicenter for some of the company’s most renowned products, including Campari, Aperol, Campari Soda, Crodino, and Cinzano.
The plant’s remarkable growth trajectory is evidenced by its production volumes, which have surged from 29 million bottles in 2004 to an impressive 360 million bottles in 2023.
In addition to its significant contribution to production volumes, the Novi Ligure plant plays a crucial role in employment generation and talent development. With over 300 individuals employed, the plant has seen a 10 percent increase in direct employees in 2023 alone.
Campari Group is committed to nurturing talent through initiatives such as the ‘Distillery of Talent’ early program, aimed at attracting and training young graduates in engineering, scientific, and technical fields.
Furthermore, Campari Group remains dedicated to promoting sustainability initiatives at the Novi Ligure plant, with a focus on energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Aperol maker has invested in renewable energy infrastructure, including a photovoltaic panel system installed in 2022, significantly enhancing the plant’s energy autonomy and sustainability profile.
