USA – Cargill, an American global food corporation, has recently unveiled a fresh commercial collaboration with California-based cocoa-free chocolate start-up, Voyage Foods.
This partnership was formed to address the growing global demand for sustainable confectionery options.
Voyage Foods headquartered in California, specializes in crafting sustainable, dairy-free alternatives to popular products, including chocolate.
However, they have been faced with a big challenge when sourcing ingredients since inception.
Utilizing plant-based ingredients, the company develops alternatives to cocoa-based products and also offers nut-free spreads devoid of common allergens like peanuts and hazelnuts – These spreads are engineered to mimic the taste of their traditional counterparts, thanks to Voyage Foods’ proprietary technology.
As per the agreement, Cargill has been designated as the exclusive distributor for Voyage Foods’ products, marking the agribusiness giant’s debut in the realm of cocoa-free alternatives.
These alternatives are poised to complement Cargill’s existing chocolate portfolio and will find application in various recipe formulations across sectors such as bakery, ice cream, and confectionery.
Inge Demeyere, managing director of bakery, ice cream, and chocolate confectionery at Cargill, remarked, “Alternatives to cocoa-based products serve as excellent additions to Cargill’s traditional chocolate offerings, ensuring that we are continually evolving our portfolio to meet consumer demands and market regulations, particularly concerning sustainability.”
Adam Maxwell, CEO and founder of Voyage Foods, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Voyage Foods’ commitment to addressing both human and environmental health challenges through innovative food solutions.
“Voyage Foods has always been focused on solving human and environmental health challenges through food. The best way to accomplish this is by supplying the world’s food brands and manufacturers with our impactful ingredients,” he said.
The cocoa-free range, slated to debut in Europe, is expected to be rolled out in other regions worldwide in the near future.
