Cargill Honored with 2024 BIG Sustainability Awards

USA – Cargill has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability, earning prestigious accolades in the 2024 BIG Sustainability Awards.

The Business Intelligence Group (BIG) awarded the company both the Sustainability Leadership Award and the Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award, acknowledging Cargill’s impactful contributions to environmental stewardship within the food and agriculture industry.

As a major player in global food production, Cargill is driving efforts to address critical issues like supply chain resilience, climate change, and food security.

The company’s approach involves collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders—including farmers, industry experts, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and policymakers—to foster a more sustainable agricultural sector.

By leveraging technology, forging strategic partnerships, and making significant investments, Cargill is advancing sustainability on a global scale.

The Sustainability Leadership Award was given to Cargill in recognition of its overall influence and commitment to sustainable practices across its operations.

Additionally, the company received the Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award for its Hatching Hope program, which aims to enhance nutrition and economic stability by promoting poultry production and consumption.

Launched in collaboration with Heifer International and executed with the support of Technoserve, Hatching Hope seeks to positively impact 100 million people by 2030.

Pilar Cruz, Cargill’s Chief Sustainability Officer, expressed pride in the recognition, emphasizing the importance of addressing the growing challenges within the global food system.

“We are honored to receive this acknowledgment from BIG, which highlights the efforts our teams undertake daily to ensure a safe, responsible, and sustainable food supply,” Cruz stated.

Russ Fordyce, CEO of the Business Intelligence Group, praised Cargill’s sustainability initiatives, noting, “Cargill has embedded sustainability into the core of its operations. Their commitment is truly inspiring, and we are proud to spotlight their achievements.”

Cargill, Incorporated, an American multinational based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, was founded in 1865 by William Wallace Cargill.
