RUSSIA – Cargill, through its Production and Commercial Company “Bratya” (Rostov-on-Don) has announced plans to invest between US$9.5m to 10.5 million in upgrading its grain terminal in Rostov, Russia.

According to a report by UkrAgroConsult, the upgrade is expected to increase the capacity of the existing terminal by 50% to 1 million tonnes per year and extend the quay wall to 314 linear meters from 142 linear meters.

Cargill plans to build a 20 KMT silo while construction work on the upgrades is expected to begin in 2019.

This year, it is planned to prepare a feasibility study for the project and undergo an examination.

Ukraine grain terminal 80% complete

Cargill said its grain terminal in Ukraine constructed by M.V. Cargo in Yuzhny port, is 80% ready.

The company reported that in spring it implemented the first phase, which included the construction of railcars unloading station, trucks unloading station, a warehouse for 80 KMT of grain and supporting infrastructure.

Cargill is also building the second line of silos and the berth 25 and two lines of vertical storage silos will be able to receive grain already in October 2018.

Cargill and M.V. Cargo signed an investment agreement with US$100 million in a grain terminal construction.
