KENYA – Carrefour Kenya has kicked off the month with a major milestone, opening its 28th store at Maasai Mall Rongai on February 7th.
This new Carrefour Market location brings Carrefour’s signature blend of quality, affordability, and convenience closer to the residents of Rongai and the surrounding areas.
The opening of the Maasai Mall Rongai Carrefour Market store marks Carrefour Kenya’s ongoing commitment to expanding its footprint across the region.
With 23 stores in Nairobi and its environs, three in Mombasa, and one in Kisumu, Carrefour continues to enhance accessibility for customers while supporting local businesses.
The expansion has created over 700 new jobs in 2024, bringing the total number of Carrefour employees in Kenya to over 2,800.
Additionally, Carrefour’s dedication to sourcing 99% of its products locally has fostered growth for more than 690 local farmers, SMEs, and manufacturers.

The Kenyan retail market has seen significant growth in recent years, driven by the expansion of both local and international retailers.
According to the Cytonn Report, the average rental yield in the retail sector increased to 7.5% in 2023, up from 6.8% in 2022, reflecting the sector’s resilience and evolving landscape. The average occupancy rate also rose to 79.4% in 2023, indicating strong demand for retail space
