Central Valley Meats acquires Cargill beef plant, aims at expanding operations

USA – Central Valley Meats, a US-based meat processing company, has acquired a beef processing plant from Cargill in Fresno, California.

The acquisition, whose financial details remain undisclosed, is set to significantly expand Central Valley Meats’ footprint in the meat processing sector.

This is a strategic move to enhance its processing capabilities and boost support for the cattle and dairy industry in California and the western region.

The newly acquired beef processing plant is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting the growing market demands for high-quality beef products.

Central Valley Meats aims to leverage the plant’s infrastructure and resources to further strengthen its offerings and deliver superior meat products to customers and consumers.

As part of the acquisition, Cargill employees currently working at the Fresno plant will have the opportunity to transition to roles within Central Valley Meats.

Despite the sale of the beef processing plant, Cargill remains committed to its operations in Fresno – the company will continue to operate its adjacent ground beef and hamburger patty facility, demonstrating its ongoing investment and dedication to the region’s meat processing industry.

Brian Coelho, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Central Valley Meats, expressed optimism about the acquisition, highlighting the company’s long-term vision of strengthening its position in the market.

Coelho emphasized Central Valley Meats’ dedication to collaborating with local cattle producers to maintain the highest standards of quality and sustainability in beef production.

Established in 1993, Central Valley Meats has grown steadily over the years, now boasting a workforce of over 900 employees.

Central Valley Meat’s estimated annual revenue currently stands at $111 million, reflecting its significant contribution to the meat processing industry.
