As consumers evolve and become more conscious toward adopting healthier lifestyles, the desire for healthy products is higher more than before.
Availability of a full range of milk product choices that help them meet these lifestyle needs, while allowing them indulge in pleasant eating and drinking experiences, has been a source of concern for many consumers.
CHI Limited has been making efforts to fill this is the gap, with the company a year ago introducing Hollandia Lactose Free Easy to Digest Milk targeting lactose intolerant consumers.
The new milk enables lactose intolerant consumers to easily digest the milk sugar which causes stomach discomfort, bloating and stomach upsets to them.
Being an active dairy company in Nigeria, the subsidiary Coca-Cola company is undertaking massive infrastructural developments of facilities at the Bobi Grazing Reserve in Niger State.
The company has acquired over 4,000 hectares in the reserve and is partnering with existing pastoralists to provide 2,000 hectares to allow for settlement and grazing for their cows.
It has also made available 1,200 hectares to subsistence farmers for grain production and another 300 hectares for growing some of the best breed of pasture – Napier grass, an essential fodder known to improve milk yield in cows.
The final stretch of 800 hectares has been set aside for development of support facilities, specifically a milk collection and processing center where all the milk produced from the cows will be collected and processed in a hygienic manner.
The investment will also involve upgrade of the existing facilities and construction of new ones in a bid to boost milk in the country.
The project is under the livestock development initiative by the Niger state in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
