USA – Chr. Hansen is expanding its production capacity for natural colors as demand rise in the US market with the acquisition of Banker Wire manufacturing facility in Wisconsin, adding to its presence in North America.

Expansion means to address a global shift from artificial to natural colors especially for the US consumers who are developing regard for natural, recognizable and safe ingredients.

To relieve pressure on the need for natural colors, the company said it will be renovating the acquired facility to become the new North American headquarters for the company’s Natural Colors Division.

“This is the largest single investment for Natural Colors in recent years and demonstrates our commitment to the important North American market,” said Jacob Vishof Paulsen, acting Executive Vice President of Natural Colors Division.

“Having the whole chain gathered in one place will allow for a fast and agile response to customer needs, supporting Chr. Hansen’s current and future business demands for the next decade – with room to grow.”

The centre will be home to production, to research and development, application and quality assurance labs, a pilot plant, a dedicated warehouse, as well as sales and marketing and other business support functions.

It also offers flexibility in both production and supply chain, better speed to market, high quality products, enabling the company meet demand for color solutions across its supply chain.

With new production capacity and new capabilities, Chr. Hansen is positioning itself as an industry leader in not only natural colors but also food cultures and enzymes, probiotic supplements and infant formula.
