EUROPE – Chrysal has announced the appointment of Johan ten Haken as its new Sales Manager for Europe, effective immediately.
This comes after Johan joined the company in October 2023 as the Retail Account Manager. His more than 20 years of experience in the flower industry, coupled with his background in operations management, will be instrumental in driving Chrysal’s growth and strengthening customer relations.
Johan brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous roles, particularly from his tenure as an operations manager at various Dutch bouquet makers.
He managed a production site in England for a decade, overseeing both production and logistics while maintaining close ties with English growers and suppliers.
“I am extremely excited to take on this new challenge,” said Johan. “Chrysal is a key player in the flower industry, and I look forward to using my experience to serve our customers even better and achieve sustainable growth.”
Chrysal is not only focused on growth but also on sustainability. The company, known for its innovative flower care solutions, continues to emphasize environmentally friendly practices.
With production facilities in countries like Kenya, Colombia, and the Netherlands, Chrysal supports retailers, florists, growers, and bouquet makers globally.
Sales Director Christel Roeten expressed enthusiasm about Johan’s appointment, stating, “His experience, enthusiasm, and expertise in the flower industry make him the perfect person to further strengthen our commercial activities. With Johan’s appointment, Chrysal is taking another step in strengthening its position as a market leader in flower care, focusing on customer needs and innovation.”
Chrysal actively demonstrates its commitment to sustainability through innovations like the Chrysal Blue Box, a real-time data platform was introduced at the International Plant Fair in Essen earlier this year.
This platform aims to provide growers, importers, and retailers with insights into quality parameters and processes during sea transport, ensuring high-quality flowers reach customers sustainably.
The company’s recent efforts in sustainable transport have shown significant promise. Studies indicate that transporting flowers via sea freight can reduce the carbon footprint by up to 92% compared to air transport.
However, the longer shipping time presents challenges for flower quality. With the introduction of the Blue Box, stakeholders can now monitor real-time quality data during shipment, offering transparency from harvest to delivery.
Niels van Doorn, General Manager of Chrysal Africa, highlighted the importance of sustainability in their operations, saying, “At Chrysal, we remain committed to delivering innovative solutions that benefit the entire floral sector, with a focus on sustainability and reducing environmental impact.”
“Our services, including the state-of-the-art test facility and the Blue Box data platform, contribute to a more sustainable, efficient, and transparent flower supply chain.”
