Located in Upperhill in Nairobi, the three-storey complex covering 116,350 square feet on 3.26 acres has been placed in the market by realtor Knight Frank who invited prospective tenants and buyers to place bids on or before July 4.
“The Grade A office building with 130 parking spaces is strategically located in the business district…Where it occupies one acre with the rest undeveloped. It has a sound-proof auditorium, gym, fitness studies and a cafeteria,” said the firm.
However, the bid price is yet to be disclosed but earlier reports indicated Coca-Cola was looking for over US$10 million (Sh1 billion).
Built in 2008 for US$6.83 million, the offices sit on four acres of land and boasts of ‘green’ features that include solar heating, rain water harvesting, power conservation devices and a green roof garden that acts as a recreation area.
The company has since moved to its newly-constructed facility in Lavington which it said was in line with their Vision 2020 on workplace agenda.
The company’s regional general manager Ahmed Rady had said the shift was meant to redefine their working space by allowing the company achieve a new modernised space built to suit needs of a more agile, and even faster paced business.
“We want to provide our employees with the best work experience and one of the key projects, which are global, but we are working on here (in Nairobi office), is called ‘Workplace Vision 2020’ where the space that we provide is more open, more collaborative.
It also inspires creativity, innovation and is less formal and more comfortable with more hang-out places,” Ahmed was earlier on quoted.
Coca-Cola in Kenya employs an estimated 13,000 people directly in bottling activities and a further 700,000 through auxiliary services within the supply chain.
