MEXICO – Corona Extra has reclaimed the title of the world’s most valuable beer brand, according to the latest report by Brand Finance.
The Mexican beer brand has surpassed Heineken, which held the top spot in 2023. Heineken now ranks second with an 18 percent increase in brand value to US$9 billion, while Budweiser sits in third place with an 11 percent rise to US$7.4 billion.
Henry Farr, director at Brand Finance, said, “This reaffirms the brand’s leadership and mirrors evolving consumer preferences for premium and quality offerings. It also offers insights into the broader landscape of the beer industry, where brands committed to quality and innovation are redefining market standards.”
Corona Extra is not only the most valuable beer brand but also the world’s fastest-growing beer brand. It is followed by Spain’s Estrella Damm, which saw a 37 percent increase in brand value to US$1.4 billion, and Singapore’s Tiger, with a 30 percent rise to US$1 billion.
Corona’s brand strength has also improved significantly, with a 3.9-point increase in its Brand Strength Index (BSI) score to 85.9 out of 100, making it the third strongest beer brand globally.
Research by Brand Finance indicates that Corona’s global consideration, familiarity, overall reputation, and usage metrics have shown an uptick year-on-year.
The brand’s strategic initiatives have bolstered its recognition and reputation, extending beyond consumer appeal.
Recently, Corona Cero made history as the first beer brand to sponsor an Olympics event.
China’s Tsingtao, with a brand value up 21 percent to US$2.6 billion, is recognized as the world’s strongest beer brand, boasting a BSI score of 87.0 out of 100.
Tsingtao has a robust presence both domestically and internationally, with products available in over 100 countries. Strategic partnerships with distribution channels have further strengthened Tsingtao’s market position.
In Africa, Castle Lager was named the most valuable brand, with its 2024 brand value at US$698 million, a 22 percent growth compared to 2023.
The rankings come ahead of International Beer Day, celebrated annually on the first Friday of August.
