UAE – Silver Line Gate (SLG) Group, a leading supplier of dairy and dairy products, is set to construct a dairy manufacturing facility worth AED200 million (US$54.5M) at the Dubai Industrial City.

The facility is intended to occupy an area of 1.37 million square feet, constituting a manufacturing warehouse and corporate offices.

It will use advanced technologies and fully automated machinery and equipment to produce and distribute milk powder, butter, and wholesale bakery products.

The facility’s operations are intended to take effect in 2025, creating about 300 job opportunities with the products expected to be shipped to various markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Africa and Southeast Asia.

The investment is in line with Dubai Economic Agenda D33, the Make it in the Emirates campaign, and UAE’s food security agenda.

Dubai Industrial City is a member of TECOM Group’s portfolio of 10 business districts, which include Dubai Internet City, Dubai Production City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Design District, Dubai International Academic City, and Dubai Knowledge Park.

This site will allow SLG to join this business environment as it has noticed a growing demand for powdered milk and other dairy products across the region, according to a statement the company released.

The SLG Group General Manager, Shereen Saeed, said, “Our business is growing rapidly, fuelled by a growing demand for powdered milk and related products across the region.

Our ability to cater to this demand, in terms of both output and timely delivery, hinges on our facility.”

Dubai Industrial city is a major stakeholder in Operation 300bn, a strategy aimed at developing the UAE’s industrial sector, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

“Dubai Industrial City offers us a fully equipped industrial infrastructure to easily set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing and logistics centre from which we can better cater to many other markets,” noted the SLG Group GM.

The new facility will cater to the demand of B2B and B2C consumers in the intended markets and support the distribution of butter, whey powder and vegetable shortening to bakeries, restaurants, ice cream manufacturers, hotels, caterers and other users in the UAE.

The Executive Vice President of Industrial Leasing at Tecom Group in a move to welcome the company reiterated the country’s food security and sustainability goals.

He said, “With a growing volume of Dubai-based food manufacturers located in one address, Dubai Industrial City is leading the way for Dubai to cultivate a self-reliant food programme.”
