UK – Danone Manifesto Venture, the New York-based venture arm of Danone is supporting a UK brand of vegetarian, low-fat almond blend, Ayem to launch a new range of Breakfast Protein to offer healthy proteinaceous breakfast meals.
According to FoodBev, the new range aims to fill the morning protein gap as it provides a healthy fruit breakfast essential for both body and brain development.
Breakfast Protein Pots received approval in Danone’s Innovation Accelerator, which focuses on launching new products.
As a result, Danone is supporting the initiative, the first start-up to be backed by the company.
The idea was developed by Ayem founder Manuela Borella, who has been part of the Danone family for 18 years.
They blend a combination of almonds, milk, fruit and seeds, each pot containing 15g protein and available in three flavours, that are original almond blend; pear, apple and almond; and blueberry and almond.
According to the company, the range is produced from a patent-pending recipe and is said to have a completely unique texture, combining the firmness of a chia pudding with the varied bite of a bircher muesli.
The Breakfast Protein Pots can be consumed straight from the pot or spooned into a bowl to be paired with fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, honey or agave nectar.
“We launched Ayem to bring a revolutionary offering to the breakfast market.
As a busy and health-conscious mum with four young children, I wanted to create a healthy breakfast product that would get minds and bodies off to a good start, helping hectic individuals and those looking to get the most out of the day ahead,” said Manuela Borella.
Ayem is a vegetarian, low-fat almond blend with no colours or preservatives.
